What's in the fan category?

Fans and ventilators are used for many purposes: exhausting stale, humid, or hot air from enclosed spaces, supplying fresh air, cooling machinery and electrical panels, and extracting dust and chips. This category brings together models for a wide range of needs, from residential bathroom exhaust fans to industrial ventilators, and from inline duct fans to high-pressure centrifugal fans.

Main fan types

How to select the right fan?

Two key values in fan selection are flow rate (m³/h) and the resistance the fan must overcome (static pressure). Flow rate is roughly found by multiplying the volume to be ventilated by the number of air changes per hour desired. If the fan is to be connected to ductwork, duct length, number of elbows, and grilles increase resistance; in this case, high-pressure radial or inline fans should be preferred. For ductless wall installations, axial fans are an economical solution. Noise level, voltage (single-phase/three-phase), and the need for speed control also affect the selection.

Installation and maintenance

The fan's intake and discharge direction must match the air flow path. For fans opening to the outside, a backdraft damper or louver prevents air and dust from entering when the fan is stopped. Dust and grease accumulating on the blades both reduce flow rate and cause vibration and noise due to imbalance; regular cleaning extends fan life.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an exhaust fan and a ventilator?

An exhaust fan is used to expel air from a space. A ventilator circulates the air in the environment to provide cooling.

Which fan is quieter?

Low-speed, large-diameter fans are generally quieter. If noise level is important, compare the dB values in the product specifications.

Why is a fan's actual flow rate lower than the catalog value?

The maximum flow rate in the catalog is measured under free-discharge conditions. Ducts, grilles, and filters create resistance, so the actual flow rate is lower.

Single-phase or three-phase?

Single-phase fans are sufficient for residential and small commercial applications. Three-phase motors are more common in large industrial fans.

Can fan speed be adjusted?

On fans with compatible motors, speed can be adjusted using speed control regulators. The regulator must be rated for the fan's current draw.

Can I get help with selection?

If you share the dimensions of the space and the intended use via chat, we can determine the right fan type together.
