Product description

What Is an Axial Fan?

An axial fan is a type of fan that causes air to flow in an axial direction, parallel to the shaft on which the blades rotate. The flow is axial at both inlet and outlet. The blades rotating around an axis draw air parallel to that axis and push it outward in the same direction. The fan is designed to generate force by creating a pressure difference, causing flow through the fan. Axial fans produce airflow with a high flow rate, generating large volumes of airflow. However, the airflow they produce is at low pressure.

Applications

  • For small and medium-sized spaces:
  • Suitable for ventilating bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, pantries, laundry rooms, garages, workplaces, etc.
  • It is manufactured specifically for direct window-mount installation.

Features

  • The ultra-light rear louvers open with the suction force of the airflow and close when the fan is switched off.
  • The mechanical louvers provide the best protection against dust, odors, moisture, and similar elements that could enter from outside when the fan is not running.
  • It has an attractive front appearance.
  • It can be easily mounted vertically on glass.
  • The air outlet flap provides the best protection against dust, odors, and cold that could enter from outside when the fan is not in use, while also preventing heat loss from inside to outside.
  • The dust-exposed filter can be removed very easily and cleaned by wiping or washing.
  • Self-lubricating, maintenance-free motor bearings provide quiet and long-lasting performance.
  • The motor is in insulation Class H.
  • Our products are manufactured in accordance with EN 60335-2-80, Low Voltage Equipment [2006/95/EC] and Electromagnetic Compatibility [2004/108/EC] standards.

Things to Consider When Selecting an Axial Fan

4 parameters should be considered when selecting a fan:
  • Required Air Flow Rate
  • Pressure Losses
  • Acceptable Noise Level
  • Electrical Power Connection Type
The air change rate required for the space to be ventilated depends on the intended use of the space, the number of people and items inside, and their activity levels. The table alongside shows the recommended air change coefficients for different types of spaces.
Environment Air Change Coefficient
Classrooms 5-7
Libraries 4-5
Domestic kitchens 15-25
Bathrooms 5-7
Domestic restrooms 4-5
Public restrooms 8-15
Conference rooms 6-8
Offices 4-8
Changing rooms 6-8

The amount of air per person in living and working spaces, depending on activity, can help determine the required air flow rate.

Normal Activity (Non-Smoking) 29 m³/h
Normal Activity (With Smoking) 58 m³/h
Light Activity 45 m³/h
Heavy Activity 60 m³/h

Based on the information provided above, the required air flow rate is determined as follows.

    • Q [ m³/h ] = Air change rate coefficient (1 hour) × Space volume (m³)

Or

  • Q [ m³/h ] = Number of people × Air flow rate required per person
After calculating the required air flow rate, an appropriate duct design (taking into account noise and air velocity criteria) must be made and pressure losses must be calculated. Depending on the environment in which the fan will operate, the fan type (axial, radial, roof, smoke exhaust, etc.) should be decided upon, and the correct fan should be selected from the appropriate fan curve based on the determined flow rate–static pressure pair. To illustrate briefly with an example: an office with 5 employees has a ceiling height of 2.6 m and a floor area of 50 m², giving a volume of 2.6 × 50 = 130 m³. The air change rate given in the table for offices was 4–8; taking an average of 5, the requirement is 130 × 5 = 650 m³/h. Assuming normal activity levels, 5 people × 29 m³ = 145 m³ of air is needed for the occupants, giving a total air requirement of 650 + 145 = 795 m³/h.

Fan selection is also made based on this flow rate requirement.

After completing the flow rate calculations, the installation location of the fan must be determined. Where will the fan be mounted — on the ceiling, wall, chimney or ventilation duct? Another consideration is the voltage of the electrical supply to the fan. Since we are using an office as our example, let's continue from there. Fans are generally mounted on walls or windows in offices. If domestic electricity is to be used, a single-phase fan should be preferred. If the fan is to be used in an industrial setting, a fan operating on three-phase (380 V) power should be used.
