What is in the Motors category?

Electric motors are the power source for pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers, and machinery. This category brings together a range of products — from general-purpose asynchronous electric motors and vibration-generating vibration motors, to explosion-proof motors for hazardous environments and capacitors required for the operation of single-phase motors.

Key concepts in motor selection

Installation and protection

The motor must be connected to a circuit protected by appropriate thermal overload protection and fuses; the thermal setting must be adjusted according to the current value on the motor nameplate. In direct-coupled connections, the motor and machine shafts must be aligned; in belt-driven connections, belt tension must be set correctly. The motor's cooling fan and fins must be kept free of dust.

Frequently asked questions

Single-phase or three-phase motor?

Where three-phase power is available, three-phase motors are more efficient and durable. Single-phase motors are used where only residential power supply is available.

How is motor speed selected?

It is selected according to the requirements of the driven machine. The speed value on the existing motor's nameplate is the most reliable reference.

What does IE3 mean?

It indicates the motor's energy efficiency class. A higher class means doing the same work with less energy.

How is the motor's direction of rotation changed?

In three-phase motors, two of the phases are swapped. In single-phase motors, the procedure follows the wiring diagram.

Can a pump motor be purchased separately?

Suitable motors for some pumps are available in this category. For submersible pump motors, see submersible motors.

Why is the motor overheating?

Overload, low voltage, dirty cooling fins, or phase imbalance can cause overheating.
