What Is a Pressure Reducing Valve (Regulator)?
The air pressure used in pneumatic circuits must be reduced to the desired operating pressure. Pneumatic pressure regulators reduce the system pressure to an adjustable operating pressure and maintain it largely constant despite variations in air consumption and fluctuations in system pressure. Pneumatic pressure regulators only work in the direction of reducing line pressure; it is not possible to set a pressure higher than the line pressure.
It prevents problems that may arise from sudden increases in mains pressure, minimizing the risk of pipe bursts in the plumbing of your home and/or workplace. Gauge-equipped types are recommended for ease of adjustment.
