The chain boiler thermostat (also known as a mechanical boiler thermostat) is typically used in solid-fuel central heating boilers.
Intended Use and Application
It is used in solid-fuel boilers (wood, coal, pellet, etc.) to maintain a constant water temperature. The thermostat is connected to the air damper via a chain. As the water in the boiler heats up, the thermostat expands and closes the damper through the chain, reducing combustion. When the water temperature drops, the damper opens again and combustion increases.
