What Is a Booster Pump?

Booster pumps are automatic pumps used to pressurize water where mains pressure is insufficient. They can be used on their own or, in some plumbing systems, together with a water storage tank.

They pressurize mains water in homes, apartments, buildings, villas, and residential complexes, or deliver water from a storage tank to the plumbing system under pressure.

The benefit is that the pump won't cycle on and off with every water use, resulting in a longer service life. In other words, the larger the expansion vessel in your booster system, the more water it stores, meaning the pump works less and lasts longer.

If the booster pump will draw water from a storage tank, it is advisable to use a level float switch in case the tank runs dry. If the tank runs dry, it will stop the unit from operating and prevent motor damage. When the tank refills, the booster pump will automatically resume operation.

Pressure Controller Specifications

The automatic booster pump device stops the pump automatically when the suction water supply runs out, preventing dry running. It starts the pump automatically when water use begins and stops it when water use ends. Minimum 2.7 bar pressure; compatible with single-phase pumps up to 1.5 HP.

HARDWARE

For easy and safe electrical installation, the unit is equipped with a socket and a 150 cm cable with plug.

A check valve is integrated into the unit. No additional check valve is required.

The hydromat unit includes a pressure gauge to allow monitoring of the system pressure and adjustment of the pump operating settings.

Plumbing Materials

If your booster pump draws water from the same level or from above, a check valve must be used on the suction line. A check valve must also always be used on the discharge line of the booster pump.
