What Is a Ball Valve?
A ball valve is a quarter-turn valve that uses a bored, rotating ball to control the flow through it. When the hole in the ball is aligned with the flow, the valve is open; when rotated 90 degrees by the valve handle, it is closed. The handle lies flat in line with the flow when open and is perpendicular when closed, providing visual confirmation of the valve's position.
