What Is a Ball Valve?
A ball valve is a quarter-turn valve that uses a perforated, pivoting ball to control the flow through it. When the hole in the ball is aligned with the flow, the valve is open; when rotated 90 degrees by the valve handle, it is closed. The handle is straight when open, aligned with the flow, and perpendicular when closed, providing a visual indication of the valve's status.
