What Is a Liquid Level Float Switch?

Float switches are electrical control devices that monitor the rising and falling water level in tanks, wide wells, or water collections of a given volume and depth, and provide an electrical contact to control connected devices such as pumps and booster pumps. Electric float switches keep the water level within a defined range, or activate and deactivate other devices based on the water level.

Operating Principle of Liquid Level Float Switches

Because the float is lighter than water, it rises to the water surface when submerged. When the water level drops, the float descends along with the water. At this point, a stainless steel ball approximately 25 mm in diameter inside the float moves approximately 2 cm forward or backward along its channel inside the float, depending on whether the float moves up or down. A micro switch fixed at the end of the channel through which the ball travels linearly inside the float opens and closes as the steel ball strikes it during its back-and-forth movement. This produces an electrical switching action.

What Is the Advantage of a Rubber Cable?

The advantage of rubber-cabled float switches is that the cable does not harden over time due to changes in air and water temperature, and no cracking or breakage occurs as a result of hardening. The cable continues to operate for many years without losing its elasticity.

Liquid level float switches are used to control the liquid level in stationary liquid tanks in residential and industrial facilities. (Used in tanks, artesian wells, septic pits, and wastewater applications.)
Our liquid level switch has resistance to mineralized and acidic water up to 10% concentration. The outer housing of our liquid level switches is manufactured from anti-shock polypropylene material and is resistant to high ambient temperatures.

Liquid level float switches can be used bidirectionally – they can be set to activate when in the lower position and stop when in the upper position, or vice versa.
