A tapered union is a component that can be removed and reinstalled from the center while both ends remain fixed. In a system where both ends are fixed and there is a pump, booster pump, or other mechanism in the middle that may fail or eventually require maintenance, a tapered union is a split coupling that allows the component to be quickly removed and reinstalled without disturbing the rest of the system.It is a type of union that allows two fixed ends to be connected to each other without rotating them.
