Product description
What Is a Centrifugal (Snail) Fan?
These are fans in which air leaves the fan wheel at a 90° angle relative to the inlet, departing tangentially along the blades.
The advantages of centrifugal fans are as follows:
- Wide application range
- High-temperature, corrosive, and abrasive environment applications
- Easier access to the motor compared to direct-drive axial fans
- More efficient and quieter operation, especially in locations with variable flow resistance
- High structural stability
- Very high pressures and flow rates
Where Are High-Pressure Centrifugal Fans Used?
High-pressure centrifugal fans, such as this product, are fan units used to convey lightly granular materials. They generally operate at low capacities but with high pressure values.- Iron and steel,
- Glass,
- Chemical,
- Cement,
- Processes requiring high pressure in facilities such as mining.
- The most common application is boilers for central heating systems.

- Required Air Flow Rate
- Pressure Losses
- Acceptable Noise Level
- Electrical Power Connection Type
- Q [ m³/h ] = Air change rate coefficient (1 hour) × Space volume (m³) Or
- Q [ m³/h ] = Number of people × Air flow rate required per person After determining the required air flow rate for the space, an appropriate duct design (taking noise and air velocity criteria into account) should be made and pressure losses calculated. The fan type (axial, radial, roof, smoke extraction, etc.) should be decided based on the operating environment, and the appropriate fan should be selected from the relevant fan curve according to the determined flow rate–static pressure pair. To briefly illustrate the above with an example: an office has 5 employees, a ceiling height of 2.6 meters, and a floor area of 50 m², giving a volume of 2.6 × 50 = 130 m³. The air change rate coefficient given for an office in the table is 4–8; let's take 5. 130 × 5 = 650 m³/h air requirement. If we assume normal activity in the office, 5 people × 29 m³ = 145 m³ for employees, giving a total of 650 + 145 = 795 m³/h air requirement.
Things to Consider When Selecting a Fan;
4 parameters should be considered when selecting a fan:| Environment | Air Change Rate |
| Auditoriums | 6-8 |
| Paint Ovens | 25-50 |
| Vault Rooms | 3-6 |
| Cinemas and Theaters | 5-8 |
| Commercial Kitchens | 15-30 |
| Foundries | 8-15 |
| Gymnasiums | 4-6 |
| Laundries | 10-20 |
| Indoor Swimming Pools | 3-4 |
| Restaurants | 8-12 |
| Conference Rooms | 6-8 |
| Waiting Rooms | Copy Rooms |
| Copy Rooms | 10-15 |
| Machine Rooms | 10-40 |
| Shops | 4-8 |
| Dry Cleaning | 5-15 |
| General Manufacturing Areas | 4-8 |
| Hospitals | 8-12 |
| Laboratories | 8-15 |
| Normal Activity (non-smoking) | 29 m³/h |
| Normal Activity (smoking) | 58 m³/h |
| Light Activity | 45 m³/h |
| Heavy Activity (industrial work areas) | 60 m³/h |
Based on the information provided above, the required air flow rate is determined as follows.
Fan selection is also made based on this flow rate requirement.
After completing the flow rate calculations, the installation location of the fan should be determined. Where will the fan be mounted — ceiling, wall, chimney, or ventilation duct? Another consideration is the voltage of the electrical supply to the fan. Continuing with our office example: fans in offices are generally mounted on a wall or glass. If a domestic electricity supply is used, a single-phase fan should be preferred. If it is to be used in an industrial setting, a fan operating on three-phase (380 V) power should be used.Specifications
