What Is an Electric Water Heater Safety Relief Valve?

An electric water heater safety relief valve is the name given to the valve mechanism that automatically releases gas when a predetermined temperature or pressure limit is reached in pressure tanks and other systems. The use of safety relief valves in boilers and tanks is important for ensuring safety. Safety relief valves are also used as auxiliary components in heat exchangers and pressure tanks. The diaphragm inside the valve is manufactured to be resistant to wear. Opening pressures are fixed and, if required, set values can be pre-adjusted at the factory.

It is installed in the system to prevent the fluid pressure in the installation from rising excessively and damaging the installation, any device connected to it, or a valve. It features a spring-loaded mechanism that operates on a counter-pressure principle. Various connection diameters are available depending on the boiler capacity and the amount of water in the system. In cases where the valve capacity is insufficient, multiple safety relief valves can be connected in series on the line.
