Equipment required for submersible pump installation
The long-term efficient operation of a borehole pump depends not only on the pump itself but also on the installation equipment used with it. If the pipe carrying the pump, the cable powering the motor, the connections at the wellhead, and the electrodes used for protection are not chosen correctly, problems such as leaks, cable damage, or the pump falling into the well can occur.
What is in this category?
- Column pipes and adapters: PVC column pipes connecting the pump outlet to the wellhead, along with lower and upper adapter sets.
- Wellhead flange kit: Supports the pipe at the wellhead and provides a connection point to the surface installation.
- Installation cable: Insulated submersible pump cable suitable for use in water.
- Well electrode: Detects the water level and allows the panel to stop the pump before it runs dry.
- Steel wire rope: For safely suspending the pump and pulling it up when needed.
Tips for making the right choice
Cable cross-section must be determined based on the motor's current draw and the total length from the wellhead to the panel; an undersized cable causes voltage drop and motor overheating. The pressure class of the column pipe must exceed the maximum pressure the pump can produce. Electrodes should be positioned slightly above the pump's suction point so the pump stops in time when the water level drops. Waterproof joint kits must be used for cable joints, and the cable must be secured to the pipe at regular intervals along its length.
Frequently asked questions
How many meters of installation cable should I buy?
Add the installation depth, the distance from the wellhead to the panel, and a few meters of spare. Select the cable cross-section based on this total length.
Is it mandatory to use an electrode?
In wells where the water level fluctuates, using an electrode and a suitable panel is the most reliable way to prevent dry running.
Can I order the equipment together with the pump?
Yes. You can add the pump and installation materials to your cart in the same order, and you can use the chat to ask about any sizes you are unsure of.
What does a wellhead flange do?
It supports the column pipe at the wellhead, prevents the pipe from slipping into the well, and creates a connection point to the surface installation. By covering the well opening, it also reduces the entry of foreign matter into the well.
Can I use an old pipe with a new pump?
If the pipe is sound and its pressure class is compatible with the new pump, it can be used. Replace pipes with worn threads, cracks, or bends before lowering the pump.
