An expansion vessel is used as a pressure tank in booster pump systems where the municipal supply pressure is insufficient, and in closed-loop heating systems to prevent the thermal expansion of water from causing excessive pressure that could damage the installation. It is also used as a pressure tank in building booster systems to prevent the pump from cycling on and off too frequently. In booster systems, the pressure switch setting controls when the pump starts, saving energy, and correct sizing ensures the pump operates efficiently with a long service life.
