Product description

What Is a Booster Pump Kit and What Is It Used For?

A booster pump kit contains the parts needed to convert a water pump into a booster pump and consists of at least 4 components. To convert a pump into a booster pump, your pump must be able to deliver water to at least 30 m, i.e., 3 bar. You can check this on the product label on your pump, where you will find values for Hmax (head) expressed in m or bar. If the Hmax value is greater than 30 m or 3 bar, you can convert your pump into a booster pump.

What Is a Booster Pump?

Normally, water pumps operate manually — they run when you supply power and stop when you switch them off. In some cases, you may want the pump to operate automatically: in this case the pump starts when you open a tap and stops when you close it. Pumps that operate automatically in this way are called booster pumps. Booster pumps remain connected to power at all times, running only when water is being used and stopping when water use ends.

Package Contents

  • Five-way 1": connects to the pump outlet, and all other components attach to this fitting.
  • 1–6 Bar Pressure Switch: An electrical contact that enables automatic motor operation and allows pressure to be adjusted.
  • Pressure Gauge: A pressure indicator used to read the motor's start and stop pressures.
  • 50 L Expansion Vessel: A balancing tank that ensures the system operates correctly. It also stores water internally, supplying water from the tank during low-demand use and preventing the motor from starting every time water is used, thereby extending its service life.
  • Flex Connection Hose 1″ 70 cm: Provides the connection between the 5-way connector and the expansion vessel.

If your booster pump draws water from a tank, you must use a float switch to prevent the pump from running when the tank is empty. You can purchase float switches here.
