What is a solar DC submersible pump?
Solar DC submersible pumps are pumps that run on direct current, are lowered into a well and pump water using the energy produced by solar panels. They were developed to supply irrigation water, livestock drinking water and domestic water from borehole wells on land without mains electricity. Low-voltage (12–24 V) models are suitable for small requirements and battery-based systems, while high-voltage models are suited to deeper wells and higher flow rates. High-voltage models also have lower cable losses.
Installation and maintenance
The pump must be suspended so that it does not touch the bottom of the well and remains below the lowest point to which the water level may drop. Cable joints must be made with waterproof joint kits; the pump must be supported by a safety rope. In sandy wells, pump wear can accelerate, so water quality must be taken into account. The controller must be installed in a location protected from sun and rain.
