Illuminated switches
Illuminated on-off switches are switches used to open and close circuits on machines, devices and control panels, with a light that indicates status in the on position. Boot-seal models provide additional protection against dust and moisture on the switch. The category includes illuminated switches in different color options, supplied in packs of 10 and 50; these packs are an economical solution for device manufacturers, repair technicians and electrical workshops.
Voltage and current protectors
Sudden voltage surges and drops on the mains can damage refrigerators, pumps, combi boilers, air conditioners and electronic devices. Voltage protectors cut power to the device when the voltage goes outside set limits and restore it after a defined delay once the voltage returns to normal. On adjustable models, the lower and upper voltage limits and the current limit can be set by the user. Protected sockets offer a convenient solution for protecting a single device.
Selection criteria
- Current rating: The current capacity of the switch or protector must be higher than the current of the device to be connected.
- Pin count and connection type: For illuminated switches, the number of pins and the mounting hole size must match the panel.
- Voltage: The indicator circuit of illuminated switches must be compatible with the supply voltage used.
- Mounting type: DIN-rail protectors are installed in a panel; socket-type protectors plug directly into an outlet.
Installation and safety
Installation of switches and protectors in a panel must be carried out with the power off and in accordance with the wiring diagram. DIN-rail voltage protectors must be installed by qualified electricians. The capacity of a protected socket must meet the power demand of the device to be connected; for high-power devices, panel-type protection is preferable over socket-type protection.
Frequently asked questions
Can a voltage protector be connected to a pump?
If the current capacity is adequate, it can be used to protect pumps and booster pump sets against voltage fluctuations.
How many amperes can an illuminated switch carry?
The current rating is stated in the product information; it must not exceed the current of the device.
Why is the time delay important?
It ensures the device restarts after the mains has stabilized rather than immediately when power returns; this is particularly beneficial for devices with compressors.
What is the advantage of a boot-seal switch?
It protects the switch mechanism against dust and moisture.
Who are bulk packs suitable for?
They are an economical option for device manufacturers, service centers and electrical workshops.
What do you recommend for a pump control panel?
