What is an AC axial fan?
AC axial fans operate directly from mains voltage (220 V) and move air along the shaft axis. Because they connect directly to a socket or electrical line without requiring an additional drive or adapter, installation is straightforward. They are widely used in flue and wall exhaust fans, cooling appliances, electrical panels, machine housings and industrial equipment.
Category contents
- Flue and wall exhaust fans: Round-cased models for exhaust use in kitchens, warehouses and small workshops.
- Square-frame equipment fans: Compact models used for panel and device cooling; some are manufactured as equivalents to common industrial sizes.
- Sheet-metal-frame axial fans: For applications requiring a more robust housing and higher speed.
The m³/h value in product names indicates the flow rate, and the RPM value indicates the motor speed.
Selection and replacement
When replacing an existing equipment fan, the external dimensions, mounting hole spacing, voltage, frequency, and airflow direction must match the original fan. Flow rate and pressure values should also be closely matched; a lower-capacity fan can cause the device to overheat. For wall applications, the fan diameter must suit the diameter of the hole to be cut; rain protection and a backdraft shutter should be considered on the side facing the outdoors.
Installation and safety
Electrical connections must be made with the power off and using appropriately sized cable. The fan must be used with a protective guard that prevents access to the blades. To reduce vibration, mounting screws should be tightened evenly; rubber grommets should be used if necessary. Dust and oil buildup strain the bearings; blades should be cleaned regularly.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an AC fan and a DC fan?
AC fans operate directly on mains voltage. DC fans are powered by a low-voltage power supply or battery.
Can the rotation direction of the fan be changed?
Most AC axial fans have a fixed direction. To reverse the airflow, the fan is mounted in the opposite orientation.
Can a replacement fan substitute for the existing fan?
It can be used if the dimensions, connections, voltage, and performance values are compatible. Compare these values before replacing.
Why did the fan start making noise?
Bearing wear or dirt imbalance on the blades can cause noise. If the noise does not decrease after cleaning the blades, the fan needs to be replaced.
Can the speed of an AC axial fan be reduced?
On models with a suitable motor, a speed control regulator can be used. Check the product information for compatibility.
What if a larger capacity is needed?
For workshops and warehouses, you can browse industrial exhaust fans.
