What Is a Pressure Controller?

Pressure controllers are mechanical devices that are fitted to the outlet of a pump to convert it into a booster pump. Booster pumps assembled with a pressure controller do not require separate plumbing components such as a check valve, pressure gauge, or 5-way fitting.

What Is the Pedrollo EasyPress II Pressure Controller?

It is an all-in-one package system for centrifugal pumps that replaces separate accessories such as an expansion vessel, check valve, pressure switch, pressure gauge, and five-way union to automatically convert the system into a booster pump.

Plumbing Materials

If your booster pump draws water from the same level or from a higher elevation, a check valve must be used on the suction line. A check valve must also always be used on the discharge line of the booster pump.

If your booster pump draws water from below its own level, i.e., from a lower elevation, a foot valve must be used to prevent air ingestion.

To protect your booster pump from debris entering during suction, you can purchase a Y-strainer.

To ensure your booster pump stops automatically when the water in the tank or well runs out, you need to purchase a float switch. A water level float switch is used only with tank or ball-valve models; a float switch is not needed with pressure-controller-type booster pumps.
