What Is a Booster Pump?

Booster pumps are automatic pumps used to pressurize water where mains pressure is insufficient. They can be used on their own or, in some plumbing systems, together with a water storage tank.

They pressurize mains water in homes, apartments, buildings, villas, and residential complexes, or deliver water from a storage tank to the plumbing system under pressure.

The booster pump automatically activates the moment water consumption begins and automatically stops when water consumption ends.

These are compact domestic booster pumps ideal for residential use. With a suction capacity of up to 8 meters, they deliver maximum suction even where water supply is intermittent. They can be used with confidence in locations where high pressure is needed at low energy consumption. Long-lasting booster pumps suitable for buildings of up to 4 stories and 6 apartments, as well as garden irrigation.

All settings are pre-configured; only the plumbing and electrical connections need to be made. Covered by a 2-year warranty.

The pre-charge gas pressure of the expansion vessel must be checked every 6 months and any pressure loss must be topped up.

In booster sets, the advantage of the expansion vessel is that when a small amount of water is used, the booster pump does not activate — it first uses the water stored in the tank, and only when that is depleted does the pump start. This means the pump will not stop and start with every water use, resulting in a longer service life. In other words, the larger the expansion vessel on your booster set, the more water it stores, meaning the pump will work less hard and last longer.

Precautions When Using the İtaly Style JET100 4-Story 4-Apartment Domestic Booster Pump with 24 L Tank

If the booster pump will draw water from a storage tank, it is advisable to use a level float switch in case the tank runs dry. If the tank runs dry, it will stop the unit from operating and prevent motor damage. When the tank refills, the booster pump will automatically resume operation.

Plumbing Materials

If your booster pump draws water from the same level or from above, a check valve must be used on the suction line. A check valve must also be installed on the discharge line.

If your booster set draws water from below its own level (i.e., from a negative elevation), a foot valve must be used to prevent air entry.

To protect your booster pump from debris that may form in the water during suction, you can purchase a Y-strainer.

To ensure your booster pump stops automatically when the water in the tank or well runs out, you need to purchase a float switch. A water level float switch is used only with tank or ball-valve models; a float switch is not needed with pressure-controller-type booster pumps.
