What Is an Axial Fan?
An axial fan is a type of fan that causes air to flow axially, parallel to the shaft on which the blades rotate. Flow is axial at both inlet and outlet. Blades rotating around an axis draw air parallel to that axis and push it out in the same direction. The fan is designed to generate force by creating a pressure difference, resulting in flow through the fan. Axial fans produce high-velocity airflow, generating large volumes of air movement. However, the airflow they produce is at low pressure. Blower and cooling axial fans, as the name suggests, create a cooling effect by blowing air over hot surfaces.Where Are Industrial Axial Fans Used?
- Axial fans are widely used for ventilation and cooling in industrial, residential, and commercial settings.
- They are very well suited for applications requiring high airflow rates.
- Thanks to specially designed blade structures developed with advanced software technology, high airflow rates are achieved at minimum noise levels.
- Hot air extraction in high-temperature environments, general and industrial buildings,
- Warehouses, stockrooms, and storage facilities,
- Garages and public buildings, agricultural buildings,
- Commercial greenhouses,
- Large workshops,
- Paint shops,
- Factories,
- Environments with dust and vapor,
- For cooling industrial machinery (welding machines, transformers, compressors)
Fan Housing and Blade Components of Axial Exhaust Fans
- Casing and fan blades made of cold-drawn, high-quality DKP sheet steel,
- High corrosion resistance with environmentally friendly electrostatic epoxy powder coating,
- Fan blades dynamically balanced in accordance with ISO 1940 standards,
- Front and rear protection guards conforming to EN 60335-2-80 standards,
- With a slim, compact design incorporating motor and blades, it takes up 50% less space than comparable units.
- Low Noise Level
Motor of Axial Exhaust Fans
- Quality production without manual handling on high-technology CNC machines,
- Aluminum-finned motor casing with high thermal conductivity,
- Rotor balanced to ISO 1940 standards for extended bearing service life,
- Insulation class F for a high operating range of –40° to +70° for coils,* 230 V / 50 Hz single-phase fan motor,**
- Standards-compliant certified components,
- IP 54 protection class (IP 55 production option available on request)
- Variable frequency drive (VFD) control can be used with three-phase fans ***
Points to Consider When Selecting an Axial Exhaust Fan
4 parameters should be considered when selecting a fan:- Required Air Flow Rate
- Pressure Losses
- Acceptable Noise Level
- Electrical Power Connection Type

| Normal Activity (non-smoking) | 29 m³/h |
| Normal Activity (smoking) | 58 m³/h |
| Light Activity | 45 m³/h |
| Heavy Activity (industrial work areas) | 60 m³/h |
The amount of air per person in living and working spaces depending on activity level can help determine the required air flow rate.
| Normal Activity (Non-Smoking) | 29 m³/h |
| Normal Activity (Smoking) | 58 m³/h |
| Light Activity | 45 m³/h |
| Heavy Activity | 60 m³/h |
Based on the information provided above, the required air flow rate is determined as follows.
- Q [ m³/h ] = Air change rate coefficient (1 hour) × Space volume (m³)
- Q [ m³/h ] = Number of people × Air flow rate required per person
Or
Fan selection is also made based on this flow rate requirement.
After completing the flow rate calculations, the installation location of the fan should be determined. Where will the fan be mounted — ceiling, wall, chimney, or ventilation duct? Another consideration is the voltage of the electrical supply to the fan. Continuing with our office example: fans in offices are generally mounted on a wall or glass. If a domestic electricity supply is used, a single-phase fan should be preferred. If it is to be used in an industrial setting, a fan operating on three-phase (380 V) power should be used.Specifications
