Product description

What Is a Radial Fan?

Fans that generate a pressure differential are called radial fans. The airflow effect operates in the direction of centrifugal force. A centrifugal fan is a mechanical device used to move air or other gases.
These fans have a rotating impeller — similar to that in a pump — and a scroll-shaped housing around it. Air or gas enters axially at the center, is pressurized, discharged tangentially around the impeller periphery into the ducts, and expelled through the outlet.
Due to the high pressure they generate, centrifugal fans are ideal for high-pressure applications such as drying and air-conditioning systems. Because all moving parts are enclosed, they also feature particle reduction characteristics that make them suitable for use in air pollution control and filtration systems.

Aircol Exhaust Fan Application Areas

  • For small and medium-sized spaces:
  • Suitable for ventilating bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, pantries, laundry rooms, garages, workplaces, etc.
  • It is manufactured specifically for ceiling ventilation applications, to be used together with a duct connection pipe attached to the extractor.

Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan Features

  • With its elegant and stylish front appearance, it is an indispensable part of decorative spaces.
  • Manufactured from high-quality ABS plastic, our product provides the best protection against bad odors, moisture, and similar external factors while never losing its original appearance.
  • The air outlet flap provides the best protection against dust, odors, and cold that could enter from outside when the fan is not in use, while also preventing heat loss from inside to outside.
  • The dust-exposed front cover can be removed very easily and cleaned by wiping or washing.
  • It has IP34 protection against water splashes.
  • Our products are manufactured in accordance with EN 60335-2-80, Low Voltage Equipment [2006/95/EC] and Electromagnetic Compatibility [2004/108/EC] standards.

What to Consider When Selecting a Radial Fan

4 parameters should be considered when selecting a fan:
  • Required Air Flow Rate
  • Pressure Losses
  • Acceptable Noise Level
  • Electrical Power Connection Type
The air changes required for the space to be ventilated depend on the intended use of the space, the number of occupants and objects inside, and their activities. The table alongside provides the required air change rate coefficients for different environments.
Environment Air Change Coefficient
Classrooms 5-7
Libraries 4-5
Domestic kitchens 15-25
Bathrooms 5-7
Domestic restrooms 4-5
Public restrooms 8-15
Conference rooms 6-8
Offices 4-8
Changing rooms 6-8

The amount of air per person in living and working spaces depending on activity level can help determine the required air flow rate.

Normal Activity (Non-Smoking) 29 m³/h
Normal Activity (Smoking) 58 m³/h
Light Activity 45 m³/h
Heavy Activity 60 m³/h

Based on the information provided above, the required air flow rate is determined as follows.

  • Q [ m³/h ] = Air change rate coefficient (1 hour) × Space volume (m³)

Or

  • Q [ m³/h ] = Number of people × Air flow rate required per person
After determining the required air flow rate for the space, an appropriate duct design (taking noise and air velocity criteria into account) should be made and pressure losses calculated. The fan type (axial, radial, roof, smoke extraction, etc.) should be decided based on the operating environment, and the appropriate fan should be selected from the relevant fan curve according to the determined flow rate–static pressure pair. To briefly illustrate the above with an example: an office has 5 employees, a ceiling height of 2.6 meters, and a floor area of 50 m², giving a volume of 2.6 × 50 = 130 m³. The air change rate coefficient given for an office in the table is 4–8; let's take 5. 130 × 5 = 650 m³/h air requirement. If we assume normal activity in the office, 5 people × 29 m³ = 145 m³ for employees, giving a total of 650 + 145 = 795 m³/h air requirement.

Fan selection is also made based on this flow rate requirement.

After completing the flow rate calculations, the installation location of the fan should be determined. Where will the fan be mounted — ceiling, wall, chimney, or ventilation duct? Another consideration is the voltage of the electrical supply to the fan. Continuing with our office example: fans in offices are generally mounted on a wall or glass. If a domestic electricity supply is used, a single-phase fan should be preferred. If it is to be used in an industrial setting, a fan operating on three-phase (380 V) power should be used.
