What does a jacuzzi pump do?
Jacuzzi pumps draw water from spa and hydromassage tubs and send it under pressure to the jets, creating the massage effect. In some systems the same pump is also used to circulate water through the filter; in other systems a separate, smaller circulation pump is used for this purpose. Their compact dimensions allow them to fit into the confined spaces beneath the tub; low noise level and suitability for hot water are the standout features of these pumps.
What should I look for when selecting?
- Power and flow rate: Selected according to the number of jets and tub volume; the power of the existing pump is a good reference.
- Connection size: Must be compatible with the tub's pipework.
- Water temperature: Models specified as resistant to spa water temperature should be preferred.
- Chemical resistance: A casing resistant to chlorine and similar maintenance chemicals ensures a long service life.
- Electricity: Models in this category operate on 220 V single-phase supply.
Some models described as closed-impeller and acid-resistant are designed to be used in water containing chemicals.
Installation and safety
Since jacuzzi pumps operate in an environment where water and electricity are present together, electrical connections must be made from a circuit with a residual current device and the earthing must be verified. The ventilation openings of the pump must not be blocked, and the motor must be able to dissipate heat. Using anti-vibration mounts during installation reduces the transmission of noise to the tub body.
Maintenance
Water drainage after use, filter cleaning, and periodic pipe disinfection prevent the pump and jets from becoming clogged. If a leak or unusual noise comes from the pump, stop using the system and have it inspected.
Frequently asked questions
Can a pool pump be used in a jacuzzi?
Some pool pumps can be used if their power, connections, and temperature ratings are compatible; however, models designed for jacuzzis offer installation convenience with their compact design.
The pump is running but no water comes from the jets — why?
Air trapped in the suction side, a clogged filter, or a closed valve can cause this.
Which pump should I buy to replace my old one?
Note the power, voltage, and connection sizes on the label of your old pump and select a model with similar values.
Where are the swimming pool pumps?
You can browse the pool pumps with pre-filter for filtration systems.
How can the noise of a jacuzzi pump be reduced?
Mounting the pump on anti-vibration pads and using flexible connectors on the pipes noticeably reduces the transmission of noise to the tub body.
