What is a clean water submersible pump?
Clean water submersible pumps are used to drain or transfer water with few solid particles, such as water in storage tanks, rainwater collection tanks, pools, and flooded areas. Their lightweight design and long cables make them easy to carry. They are among the most commonly preferred pump types for home and garden use.
Automatic operation options
- Float switch models: Start the pump when the water level rises and stop it when the level drops.
- Sensor-based models: Operate via an electronic sensor without needing the float switch's range of movement in narrow pits.
- Zero-level suction models: Draw water down to a very low level at the surface; suitable for post-flood cleanup and flat surfaces.
Models without a float switch are operated manually while an operator is present, or used with a separate level control system.
Selection recommendations
When selecting a clean water pump, first determine how much water you need to pump, to what height, and over what distance. The maximum flow rate stated for products is measured when the head is close to zero; as head increases, flow rate decreases. Keeping the hose diameter no smaller than the pump's outlet preserves efficiency. If the amount of sand and mud in the water is increasing, a dirty water submersible pump will be a more suitable choice.
Frequently asked questions
Can a clean water submersible pump be used to draw water from a well?
Short-term use in shallow, wide wells is possible. For a continuous household water supply, multistage large-diameter well pumps provide higher pressure.
How long can the pump remain submerged?
Submersible pumps are designed to operate underwater; however, if they will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to remove, clean, and store them in a dry place.
Can a pipe be connected instead of a hose?
Yes, it can be connected to a fixed pipe installation using a union or adapter matching the outlet size. Adding a check valve to the outlet is useful for permanent installations.
How much electricity does a clean water pump consume?
Consumption depends on motor power and operating time; the power value on the product page lets you estimate hourly consumption. Choosing an oversized pump unnecessarily increases energy costs.
What should I do if the pump is running but not pumping water?
Check whether the inlet screen is clogged, the hose is kinked, and whether air is trapped inside the casing. Lowering the pump into the water at an angle helps the trapped air escape.
