What is a booster pump set?

A booster pump set is a system in which one or more pumps are assembled on a single frame together with common manifolds, a control panel, and a pressure tank, used in locations requiring high flow rate and pressure such as multi-story buildings, residential complexes, hotels, hospitals, and industrial facilities. It is typically built with vertical or horizontal multistage pumps and delivered ready to use.

Single-pump or multi-pump?

How is capacity determined?

The floor and apartment counts in product names are a good starting point for initial selection. For larger projects, however, flow rate and pressure should be calculated by a plumbing engineer based on the number of users, simultaneous usage rate, building height, and pipe losses. Tank volume is also selected according to this calculation to ensure the pumps run only when needed. Three-phase (380 V) supply is required for most large sets.

Installation and maintenance

The set should be installed in a dry, ventilated plant room at the same level as or below the storage tank. Check valves on pump outlets, valves on the suction and discharge manifolds, and vibration-damping connections are important for maintenance and quiet operation. Tank pre-charge pressure, pressure sensor accuracy, and pump mechanical seals should be checked periodically. Balanced operating hours across pumps indicate that the panel's rotation setting is correctly configured.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a booster pump set and a twin-pump booster set?

Twin-pump booster sets are single-pump units with small capacity. Booster pump sets, on the other hand, are designed for high capacity, redundant operation, and advanced control.

Will the water be cut off if one of the pumps fails?

In multi-pump sets, the faulty pump is taken out of service while the others continue running. For this reason, a system with at least two pumps is recommended for critical buildings.

How much energy does variable-speed control save?

The amount of savings depends on the usage profile. In buildings where demand varies greatly throughout the day, variable-speed systems consume noticeably less energy than fixed-speed systems.

What information should I provide for set selection?

You can request a quote by providing the number of floors and apartments, tank location, existing pipe diameters, and electrical infrastructure details.
