Single-phase and three-phase models are designed for transferring liquids such as chemicals and acids where leakage is unacceptable. In magnetic pumps, the motor shaft's motion is transmitted to the impeller via magnets, eliminating the need for a shaft mechanical seal and removing the risk of seal-related leakage. When selecting a pump, consider the compatibility of the fluid with the casing material, as well as its temperature and density; excessively dense or viscous liquids can cause the magnetic coupling to break. Since the impeller bearings are lubricated by the pumped liquid, the pump must never run dry, and a Y-strainer should be fitted on the suction line.
